The program provides FREE income tax assistance for low income families, the elderly, and the disabled whose income is $49,000 or less and individuals below $24,000 a year. This is a great opportunity to serve your community while gaining valuable work experience. Volunteers receive free training and are certified by the IRS. Last year the VITA program brought just over $170,000 to the Glenn County economy through EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) and other tax refunds. VITA provides valuable assistance to people by generating free financial education and tax preparation. THE POSITION: The Glenn County Superior Court of California is recruiting to fill one regular full-time Court Accountant position at the Glenn County Superior Court in Willows. The individual appointed to this position will perform professional accounting work in the recording and reporting of financial transactions; develop and monitor budgets; and prepare financial statements and reports. Receive general supervision from departmental management staff; exercise functional and technical supervision over lower level staff. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. This recruitment may be used to establish a list to fill future vacancies for the next 6 months. DUTIES: Post transactions, reconcile accounts, and process and maintain accounting records, compute obligations, and collect and verify supporting documentation and approvals for payables. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be 18 years old and a citizen of the United States; if a permanent resident alien, must obtain citizenship within three (3) years from the date of employment. Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation prior to employment. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License; must not have been convicted of any felony, or of any offense prohibiting current or future possession of a firearm, or be the subject of any restraining order. Must complete an approved Basic Jail Operations course and a firearms training and certification course within twelve (12) months of hire. Must obtain and maintain current American Red Cross basic first aid and CPR certificates within 90 days of hire. These courses are sponsored by the County of Tehama, at no expense to the employee.
